John McCain has tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate. A formal announcement is expected shortly at a campaign rally in swing-state Ohio.

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., spoke before over 80,000 people in Invesco Field in Denver, Colorado. On the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech and the final evening of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Obama criticized McCain and called for change.
